We are delighted to announce that we are finalists in the Financial Adviser of the Year and Wealth Manager of the Year categories of the 2018 Growth Investor Awards.

Launched in 2015, the Growth Investor Awards celebrate companies and individuals involved in putting investment to work in high-potential businesses. The awards honour those providing or helping to source investment and leading players that are helping to optimise growth capital for scaling UK companies.

Mike Hodges said of the announcement “we are thrilled to be in the list of finalists for these awards, being part of a final list of only six for each award recognises the work that our team put in to delivering exceptional client service and working closely with clients to achieve growth, both personally and in their businesses.  We’re looking forward to the awards and wish all of the other finalist’s good luck.”

Over the Summer, the shortlisted finalists will go to a second round of judging by experts drawn from an independent panel of more than 35 judges.

The winners will be announced at an awards dinner held on Wednesday, November 7 at the Royal Lancaster Hotel, Lancaster Gate, London.

Team news – directorship and a big hello!

We’re very happy to announce that Nicola Craxton has been promoted to Operations Director for the firm. This promotion recognises Nicola’s hard work and dedication over recent years helping streamline our processes, grow the business and generally ensuring the smooth running of the firm (and the team!).  We’re thrilled to have her on the team of directors and to be able to recognise the value she brings to the firm in this way.

We recently said hello to two fantastic new team members Sophia Adams and Rachel Hogg.

Sophia joins us as a paraplanner in our Client Relationship team, providing technical support to the financial planners. She enjoys working directly with clients to assist them in achieving their personal and financial goals. She recently returned from a year working and travelling in Australia. Prior to this, she has four years of financial planning experience, including working for an EIS investment company.

Sophia has a degree in Business Management from Reading University and also holds the Diploma in Financial Planning. She is on the pathway to becoming a Chartered Financial Planner. In her spare time, Sophia enjoys running, skiing and exploring new places. She is a keen traveller and spends her holidays venturing to different places all over the world.

Rachel joins us as a Client Relationship Executive assisting with the implementation and administration of the client’s objectives. In addition to this Rachel’s role also involves producing valuations, preparing for client meetings and ensuring clients are kept informed and updated on their financial situations.

She joined the team at Carrington after spending 8 months travelling in Sweden. Before which she had over 3 years’ experience working in the financial planning industry and is currently working towards gaining her Diploma in Financial Planning.  In her spare time, Rachel enjoys watching as much tennis as she can and occasionally trying to win her local pub quiz.

Carrington in a spin

It’s been a few weeks now since our charity Spinathon and we think most people are just about recovered from their three-hour spin bike sessions! We have been absolutely blown away by the support we received from our clients and contacts and we are very excited to announce that we’ve raised an amazing £7,093.25 so far for the wonderful Niemann-Pick Research Foundation. Thank you all for your support on the day and through your very kind donations.

The afternoon was hot, sweaty and very tiring but with everyone involved having great fun all to raise money for a great cause. In the race to Paris Mike’s team JUST pipped Al’s team to the win – but overall it was a team of client contenders that won the race – we’re both very relieved that there was no forfeit involved for our teams being beaten!  Well done to everyone who took part.

There is still time to donate to this great cause so if you’ve not done so already and would like to: Donate Now

Summer Opening

As you might remember from previous years, in the month of August we operate our summer hours to allow our team to make the most of the warm weather (and we’re happy to say that it actually is this year!).  Our office hours during this time will be 9.00am until 4.30pm Monday to Thursday and 4pm on Fridays – but as always our clients come first and so the service you receive won’t be affected.
