The Carrington Sustainable Growth portfolio launched in June 2019 with the aim to invest in companies that are having a positive impact on our planet and society. The rationale behind the portfolio is the acknowledgement of the changing perceptions towards Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) factors. This portfolio is available on a number of the platforms we use and can be invested in via your ISA’s, Pensions and GIA’s.

It has been widely reported for some time now that the health of our planet is in decline and population growth has increased significantly over the past fifty years, and the corporate world has seen a shift to cater to these needs, whilst also profiting from them. Unfortunately, the corporate methods which have been used over this time have largely been without a sustainable mindset. The Carrington Sustainable Growth portfolio has evolved into a portfolio of investments, investing in the key themes relating to these issues, and we are very proud to have been at the forefront here.

A number of studies have been conducted uncovering a positive link between corporate profitability and sustainable practices, which comes as no surprise. Businesses that score well in terms of their sustainability are inherently good quality and tend to be thinking about their long-term sustainability, more so than businesses that are focussed solely on their quarterly profits. There has been a notable shift in the mindset of many people who are becoming increasingly concerned about the world we live in. This has manifested itself in a significant amount of pressure being applied to the corporate world to change; and they are beginning to change. The purpose of this portfolio is to participate in this change.

There are key themes running through the portfolio: technological adoption, healthcare innovation and clean energy. This is something our team are passionate about as the impact we have on the environment is something we are all concerned about at Carrington. As a team we constantly try to make changes within our control by placing a greater emphasis on initiatives such as recycling, promoting a paperless office and choosing sustainable options and products.
