Summer News

As we head into summer and, for some of us, off on holiday, there’s a real sense of energy at Carrington. With proud moments and exciting developments, there’s a lot to look forward to and now feels like the perfect time to reflect on recent highlights. From announcing our Charity of the Year and celebrating at the Fund Manager of the Year Awards, to a lively evening of darts with Fortem Capital, there’s much to share.

We’re also pleased to introduce some fantastic new additions to our team and keep you updated on everything happening across the business.

First things first, a huge congratulations to Cecily and Ali—and a big hello to little Theo!

Theo Moorhouse

Now just over a month old, Theo burst into the world and has been spreading joy ever since.

Mum and Dad are utterly besotted (if a little sleep-deprived), and we’re all looking forward to meeting him when he makes his maiden voyage into the office!

Isn’t he just the cutest?!

We’re also thrilled to introduce two new members of the team—Jago Kay & Dan Whyman

Both have joined us as paraplanners within our client relationship team, bringing a wealth of technical knowledge and experience. They’ll be working closely with our advisers to support you in achieving your financial goals and aspirations.

With ambitions to become advisers themselves, there’s a good chance you’ll meet them in a future review meeting—possibly even presenting your cashflow plan. We’re delighted to have them on board.

Charity of the Year

We’re pleased to announce that we’ve partnered with Cure Parkinson’s as our Charity of the Year.

We’re supporting this cause because Parkinson’s has touched the lives of people close to us, and with an increasing number of younger people being diagnosed, we feel it’s more important than ever to help make a difference.

A bit about the charity…Cure Parkinson’s is a UK-based charity with a one mission: to find a cure for Parkinson’s disease. It was founded in 2005 by four individuals living with the condition, among them the late and inspirational Tom Isaacs, a school friend of Mike Hodges’s. Since then, the charity has been at the forefront of driving and funding innovative research, supporting clinical trials, bringing together scientists, doctors, and those living with Parkinson’s to accelerate the search for a cure.

Despite their incredible progress, Parkinson’s remains the world’s fastest-growing neurological condition, and still, there’s no cure. Cure Parkinson’s is a relatively small charity making a huge impact, and much of their progress depends on fundraising and the support from donations.

This year, we’re aiming to raise £5,000 in support of Cure Parkinson’s and their vital work. To help reach our target, the Carrington team will be taking on a series of challenging (and hopefully fun!) fundraising events throughout the year.

Al & Friends

We’ve got some exciting plans in motion, starting with charity entries for Oly and Ali in the Royal Parks Half Marathon this October.

Opening the fundraising account, Al and a couple of friends of Carrington teed off for a round at The Golf House Club, Elie, generously donating their greens fees to the cause.

We’d love your support—whether that’s through sponsorship, a donation, or simply cheering us on along the way. You can follow our journey and contribute via our JustGiving page: Cure Parkinson’s

Also on the charity front, JagoDan and Charlie, took on the roles of the three musketeers at the annual Fortem Capital darts competition. Carrington collaborated with Fortem and various other financial advice and banking institutions to raise an impressive £15,000 in support of FoodCycle.

Despite their cheeky name “Who Darted”, the Carrington trio meant business and didn’t lose a single round of darts with a clean sweep in the tournament. Whilst most became hindered by the open bar and free food, the team got progressively more accurate as the night went on, ultimately lifting the trophy and bringing it back to Carrington, following a previous win in 2023.

Champions!

A huge thank you to Fortem for hosting another fantastic event—always one of the highlights of our calendar! The Carrington presence at the darts was depleted this year by the clashing of another eagerly awaited annual event in the social calendar.

The 30th anniversary of the Investment Week Fund Manager of the Year awards was a spectacular evening presented by Vernon Kay. Mo, for a 7th consecutive year, was asked to judge an award – this year his category was the UK Equities category.

Lucas Fildes & Mohsin Bukhari

Both looking dapper, Lucas and Mo, were thrilled to see a number of the funds we invest in our Core models taking top accolades. Notably, GMO Quality Investment, Artemis Global Income and Royal London Sterling Extra Yield, who all won their categories.

Last week, saw Carolyn jetting off to Manchester to attend the annual Plannex Elements Conference, where she was honoured to speak on a panel exploring how we’ve shaped—and continue to enhance—our client experience at Carrington.

Carolyn at the Plannex Elements Conference

After a night of awards ceremonies and high jinx (read bingo!), she took to the stage to share her insights into the strategies, feedback and cultural values that underpin our approach, alongside other industry professionals equally passionate about delivering exceptional client service.

As we look ahead to the rest of the year, we’re energised by the momentum we’ve built and the exciting plans still to come. Thank you, as always, for being part of our journey—whether as a client, partner, or friend of Carrington. We hope you have a brilliant summer and look forward to sharing more good news with you soon.
