A Brief Update on Current Events

Firstly, we are saddened by the events currently unfolding in the Middle East, and our thoughts are with anyone who may have been affected, either directly or through loved ones.

The recent US and Israeli military strikes on Iranian territory have been widely reported and represent a decisive escalation in a long running confrontation. We appreciate that these headlines can be unsettling. However, we have seen multiple Geopolitical events in the recent past and the markets eventually digest the news and move on.

Following the strikes, the oil price has risen sharply, affecting global markets for now. So far, the impact has been limited, reflecting a market view that this is unlikely to be a drawn-out conflict. Geopolitical events are often difficult to predict but usually impact markets for a limited period of time. They therefore can in fact represent buying opportunities.

The situation remains highly fluid and so we believe the best course of action is not to react, but be patient and continue to monitor the developments and assess the risks and opportunities they present. Whilst our portfolios are not immune, they are well diversified across a range of different asset classes and Geographies and will therefore naturally have exposures to parts of the markets that can cushion some areas of weakness.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to get in touch.
