Firstly, I would like to wish all of you a very Happy Christmas and a healthy 2016. I hope you all have a good break and are able to over indulge appropriately.

The office will be closed for Christmas from lunchtime on Thursday, 24th December and we will re-open on Monday, 4th January 2016.

I would also like to personally thank you for your continued support of Carrington throughout 2015. You, our clients are our most important asset and we have thoroughly enjoyed helping you over the last 12 months. We continue to put you, the client, at the centre of the business and all we do is based on this premise. As such we continue to look at ways of improving the service we offer and there are a number of things we are doing currently to this end. More of this later…

As we reported earlier in the year, we have passed the £100 million milestone. Our aims are to continue to grow and we are now into the next phase of our growth plan. I do however, want to reassure clients that we are committed to offering the same personal service that we currently provide and continue to keep this as we grow the business. As I’ve mentioned before, we only grow through recommendations from you, and we are lucky so many clients are happy advocates of the firm, and we are keen that this continues.

Client Services

There has been a lot of press this year about information security and the hacking of peoples personal information. We clearly hold a lot of this information on your behalf and with this in mind we have invested in and are implementing a more secure client document management system. This system will allow us to efficiently save, sort and file documents and most importantly send and receive personal and sensitive information to and from you securely. This will go live in the first quarter 2016.

Office Update

We have welcomed two new staff members during the year, many of you will already have had contact with them, and are pleased that both Cecily and Ali are settling in well.

We would also like to congratulate Ali for passing his RO1 exam. A great way to end the year on a high and to motivate him for his next exam early next year. Cecily is sitting her RO1 exam in early January, so wishing her good luck and happy studying!

This year has seen us continue to contribute towards industry press and we are regularly ask to offer our opinion on financial planning, industry changes and market sectors.

Investment Performance

It has been a difficult year for markets with lots of volatility, but all of our portfolios have not only beaten the market comfortably but also their benchmarks. I hope that you are all pleased with what the investment team have been doing over the last 12 months, as they continue to perform very well. The benchmarks we use are tough ones and we compare ourselves to the big fund management groups out there, so to know we are beating most of them is very pleasing. We are very focussed on what we do, we have a strong process in place and work very hard at it. It also helps that we have our own money invested in the same portfolios as you.

More clients have taken advantage this year of our life planning and cash flow modelling services, and I believe that this is the most important service we offer. To be able to give you the clarity of what the future looks like, and be able to plan effectively is invaluable. Given that investment markets continue to be volatile, and the focus is often very short term, your plan will help give some perspective that it is the bigger picture that is important, and not a short term view of markets.

Links with Professionals

We have developed stronger links with other professional advisers, Solicitors and Accountants, over the year and have helped many clients identify areas where they may have needed specialist advice, and then have guided them through this work, whether it be sorting out a Will through to looking to sell a business. I would encourage you to talk to us if you need some recommendations, with who to work with.

And lastly as I’m sure a number of you are aware, Carolyn became Mrs Stewart earlier this month. It was a very special wedding and we were all thrilled to have been able to join her in celebrating her special day.riba

Christmas Closing Times

The office will be closed for Christmas from 13h00 on Thursday, 24th December and we will re-open at 09h00 on Monday, 4th January 2016.

Once again, Merry Christmas and Best Wishes for the New Year.
