It’s good to talk – a focus on mental health

,

At Carrington, we take the mental health of our team, and our wider network, very seriously. We support our team to look after their mental health in a variety of ways including:

An open and honest culture: We promote an open and honest team culture throughout the business. Every member of the team is encouraged to share their views and opinions on client matters, the future of the business, and also to share how they’re feeling personally on any given day, in the knowledge that they will be listened to and supported, without judgment. We regularly hold team meetings and social catch ups online to ensure that no one feels isolated or unsupported, something which was absolutely vital over the last year.

A focus on listening: As team members, and as trusted advisers, we ensure we are actively listening to each other and to our clients. In this way we can ensure that we REALLY hear what is being said, in order to be able to provide advice and support when it’s needed the most.

Getting active: As a team, we all recognise the benefits of being active, and getting outdoors in nature, and having time away from the stresses and strains of everyday life. We all enjoy participating in sports and outdoor activities at all levels throughout the firm, and with our clients and friends. Whether that’s cycling, running, walking, gardening – or just taking time out to sit on a bench or in a garden and appreciate nature for a few moments.

We realise that there are a wide variety of factors that influence our happiness and mental health, and we recently discussed some of these, and ways in which we can combat some of the more common ones, in our Club magazine which you can find here. For many, combatting financial stressors can also be a major factor in maintaining good mental health, and you can read some of our top tips on maintaining your financial wellbeing in the same edition of the magazine.

Discussions around mental health, the wellbeing of our team and our clients, will always be a priority for us to ensure that we’re nurturing and supporting our team, and being a trusted adviser for our clients when they need us most. We’re always happy to talk about issues surrounding this, as well as issues around finances and financial planning of course (it’s what we do!) so please feel free to speak to us directly.
