Summer News

James Meggitt

As the summer holidays get into full swing, we wanted to take this chance to share some of what’s been happening at Carrington over the past six months.

So, welcome to the latest Carrington update! It’s been a fantastic first half of the year, with plenty to celebrate across the business. From welcoming new and well-known faces to reaching exciting milestones, there’s been lots happening behind the scenes, and we’re very proud of everything the team has achieved. Even better, there’s still plenty to look forward to over the coming months.

WELCOME TO THE TEAM

Firstly, we’d like to introduce the newest member of the Carrington team – James Meggitt.

We first met James about two years ago and kept in touch. Since then, he has returned from Australia, where he was playing and coaching cricket, as well as working in a youth prison. So, looking for a change of pace, he has hung up his professional cricket whites and is taking a swing at something different – we’re delighted that he has joined the team.

James has hit the ground running (no pun intended), settling into the team brilliantly. Working alongside Stephen and the Client Relationship Team, he will be helping with the day-to-day administration that keeps everything running smoothly, from handling client enquiries to processing paperwork and producing the ever-important meeting packs.

James also successfully sat his first exam last week – Financial Services, Regulation and Ethics – the start of his journey towards his Diploma in Financial Planning. Well done on a great start!

MUCH DESERVED CONGRATULATIONS

Also celebrating exam successes, on the back of completing his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) level 1 exam in record time, Lucas added a Certificate in Securities Advice and Dealing to his impressive credentials, before moving swiftly onto preparation for his CFA level 2 exam.

This spring, Charlie completed the last of his Diploma exams and was awarded his Diploma in Financial Planning. This is a significant milestone towards becoming a financial adviser, the first step being his recent move into the role of Financial Planning Analyst.

While across the desk, Jago completed his Advanced Diploma and has officially become a Chartered Financial Planner – one of the highest professional qualifications within our industry and a mark of technical excellence. As Jago makes his transition into advising, you may have the pleasure of having him in your next meeting.

We’re incredibly proud of everyone’s achievements and are delighted that Carrington now has a team full of Chartered Financial Planners.

Congratulations guys!!

A BIG WARM WELCOME BACK…

We’re delighted to welcome Cecily back into the fold following her maternity leave. It’s wonderful to have her back in the office, bringing her care, eagle eye and great sense of humour that we’ve all missed over the past year. Welcome back, Cecily!

CHARITY OF THE YEAR

As you may already know, each year we choose a Charity of the Year to draw attention to, support and fundraise for. This year, once again, the charity we have selected has a close, personal connection to someone within the Carrington family.

This year we are proud to be supporting Young Epilepsy, a charity Liv recommended due to her personal experience with epilepsy when she was younger.

Young Epilepsy is a charity that supports young people and their families living with epilepsy. What stood out to us was the scope of their work, ranging from specialist education support in schools, to 1:1 and group support services that help young people build confidence and manage their condition. They started in Surrey and have since grown into a national organisation, though they still operate as a relatively small charity, meaning our fundraising would make a real, tangible difference – 95p of every £1 goes directly towards charitable causes.

Thames Bridges Trek

As part of our fundraising, the team will once again be taking on one of our famous walking challenges. On 12 September, we’ll be completing the London 16 Bridge Ultra Challenge – a 25km walk from Putney to Southwark Park, crossing some of London’s most iconic bridges.

These walks are always a challenge but also a fantastic day, and they are so well organised and supported.

Our fundraising target is £5,000, and we’d be hugely grateful for any support you can give. If you would like to make a donation, you’ll find a link to our JustGiving page below. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a real difference.

Thank you in advance for your generosity.

While fundraising is incredibly important, we also want to support Young Epilepsy in other meaningful ways. In the coming weeks, Oly and Liv will be taking part in the “Youth Voice Network” by attending a careers fair organised by Young Epilepsy, where they will engage with young people and families connected to the Charity.

We see this as a valuable opportunity to give back to the wider community, offer careers advice, and encourage the young people to think positively about their futures and the goals they would like to achieve. By sharing personal stories and offering some guidance, we hope to help them feel more confident about the opportunities ahead.

AWARDS & ACCOLADES

If you missed our announcement earlier this year, we’re delighted to share that Carrington has been named a finalist in the Investment Advice Firm of the Year category for the 2026 Money Marketing Awards.

To be shortlisted for one of the industry’s most prestigious awards is an honour, and although we’re looking forward to the awards evening in September, being a finalist means a huge amount to us all.

We are also incredibly proud of Lucas, who was named one of Citywire’s Wealth Managers Top 30 under 30! An incredible accomplishment and testament to his skill, knowledge and dedication to what he does.

SOMETHING EXCITING IS COMING…

We have a very exciting announcement coming soon. A project we’ve been working on behind the scenes – and a long-time dream of the investment team – is finally coming to fruition.

While we can’t say too much just yet, it’s something we’re incredibly proud of and represents an important milestone in Carrington’s journey.

We’ll be sharing all the details (as well as a webinar invite) over the coming weeks, so keep your eyes peeled. We can’t wait to tell you more!

SUMMER OPENING HOURS

Finally, as we’ve done for several years, we’ll once again operate our Summer Hours throughout August.

As a thank you to the team for all their hard work over the past year, we’ll be closing the office one hour earlier each day.

Our opening hours during August will therefore be:

👉 Monday to Thursday: 9am to 4.30pm
👉 Friday: 9am to 4.00pm

As always, you, our clients, remain our priority, and you won’t notice any difference to the service you receive. The earlier finish simply gives the team a little extra time to enjoy what we hope will be a sunny August.

From everyone at Carrington, we wish you and your family a wonderful summer. Whether you’re travelling abroad, enjoying a staycation or simply making the most of the longer evenings, we hope you have a relaxing and enjoyable few weeks.
