Charity Easter Challenge Round Up
Not only did we complete the challenge, but we also smashed our fundraising target, and none of this would have been possible without You! As it stands we have raised a fantastic £6,807 (before gift aid) for Young Roots!!
In addition to participating in the walk, we are further supporting the charity by hosting a workshop on money management scheduled for May. Our aim is to assist the young refugees in navigating the complexities of the UK banking system, introducing them to budgeting and starting a savings plan, understanding student finance, and deciphering their first payslip. Tommy and Oly will be facilitating the workshop at one of their London hubs.
Back to the walk…on Saturday 6th April, the Carrington Team known as the Young Route Marchers, met bright and early in a blustery Windsor for the 25km Easter Ultra Challenge. Registration was buzzing with walkers, runners, volunteers, and the odd supporter. Fuelled by coffee and bacon rolls the team set off at a steady pace. Naturally, with a few kilometres down, the Young Route Marchers dispersed into different pace walking groups, briefly meeting up at the rest and refreshment stop halfway round.
Along the way, the team navigated muddy paths and several bogs, all the while taking in the wonderful surrounding countryside. The route took us through Runnymede (notable for its association with the sealing of Magna Carta), along the Thames Path, and down the Long Walk in the Great Park, where we were lazily observed by the resident deer!
Although the rain stayed away, we were happy to see the finish line come into view. With a well-received glass of fizz and a stash of Easter eggs, we cheered each other over the line, and then headed to a local pub to celebrate, reminisce about the day, and rest our sore feet…they had earned a rest after 35,000 steps!
It really was a momentous day, and we are so proud of the team for taking part and finishing the charity walk. Even better though, the money raised will have a profound impact on aiding the Young Roots’ refugees.
Here are some words from Young Roots themselves…
“On behalf of the staff and young people at Young Roots, we wanted to share our warmest thanks with the Carrington Wealth Management team who completed the Easter Ultra Challenge, as well as your clients, contacts, family, and friends who donated to your fundraiser.” – Young Roots
Once again, thank you for supporting us and for your donations, your generosity has helped to make a tangible difference to these young people! Our fundraising page will continue to remain open for the next couple of months, so if you would still like to make a donation on our JustGiving page, please do so HERE…
